Axle boots, also known as CV boots, have the important job of protecting the CV joint from dirt and debris. A faulty, cracked, or torn boot can result in the CV joint becoming inundated with debris, impeding its function and movement. Spotting a faulty boot early via a visual inspection and replacing it preemptively will save time and trouble down the line. It should be noted that outer boots near the wheels are more prone to cracks and tear than the inner ones as they get slightly more wear.
